Seifuso
あわら温泉 清風荘
Does Seifuso allow tattoos? In a private bath
Seifuso doesn’t publish a tattoo policy, so book one of its two private baths or a room with its own tub. The private baths are floored in tatami, soft and warm to sit on.
The inn publishes no tattoo rule for its garden baths or its newer bath hall, Komorebi no Yu.
The bath
The two private baths, Sekirei and Shirasagi, have tatami mats instead of tile, so you can sit on the floor without it hurting or feeling cold. The inn recommends them for guests with weak legs or limited mobility. Each costs ¥2,500 for 45 minutes. Sekirei is open 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Shirasagi 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The 13 Tomi-no-Kaze rooms, each laid out differently, have an open-air or semi-open-air tub on natural hot-spring water. Only the semi-open-air Japanese rooms get it fully free-flowing, and the open-air tubs have no washing area. The two Roan rooms, special rooms that mix Nordic and Japanese design, have a semi-open-air bath.
The shared baths include a garden open-air bath the inn calls one of the largest in Hokuriku, and Komorebi no Yu, with Awara’s first carbonated bath. These are shared baths with no published tattoo rule. The free footbath, Fufufu, faces a bamboo grove and is open 24 hours.
The hotel
Rooms run from standard Japanese and Japanese-Western rooms to a dinosaur-themed room for families. Guests in Roan and Tomi-no-Kaze can wear colorful yukata (a light cotton robe); everyone gets a samue, a loose cotton lounge set. Parking is free, across the road.
Good to know
- Some dates are closed or booked out. The inn posts closure days and whole-house buyouts on its home page, when day bathing stops too. Check before you plan.
