Hotel Route Inn Imabari
ホテルルートイン今治
Does Hotel Route Inn Imabari allow tattoos? Yes, covered
A sodium chloride spring called Kiyomasa no Yu, piped into a business-hotel bath that stays open until two in the morning on the Shikoku end of the bridge chain.
The only published way into a shared bath in this city. The Route Inn group FAQ refuses tattooed bathers and then admits anyone whose tattoo a cover seal hides completely, and the Imabari property page adds nothing to contradict it. No size is named in the FAQ, so bring a sheet big enough and confirm at the desk.

JR All Shikoku Rail Pass Three to seven days, from 12,000 yen, on every JR Shikoku train, with non-reserved seats on the limited expresses. It starts at Kojima, the first stop on the Shikoku side of the line from Okayama. It covers the Shiokaze and Ishizuchi between Matsuyama and Imabari. The Shimanami Liner bus over the bridges to Setoda is not a JR service and is paid separately. Sold on Klook.
A chain rule, and the most generous seal of any hotel chain
Route Inn sets this once for the whole group — Route Inn, Grand, Ark and Grand Vrio alike — and states it plainly: tattooed guests may not bathe unless the tattoo is completely covered with a cover seal. The whole picture on Route Inn, and every Route Inn listing on this site →

Best for: The one shared bath on the Shimanami Kaido that publishes a way in
Real spring water, unlike the Route Inns in Niihama and Saijo: the bath, 旅人の湯, runs on the 清正乃湯 source, a sodium chloride spring, hypotonic, alkaline and low temperature. Open 15:00 to 02:00 and 05:00 to 10:00. Free buffet breakfast and free parking. About 15 minutes on foot from JR Imabari station, or a short drive from the Imabari interchange.
