Does Suimei allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

Suimei calls itself the inn that is proud of its baths, and it rents one of its three private open-air baths to day visitors on weekdays, which in Yamanaka is the simplest way for someone with tattoos to bathe without staying.

Suimei publishes no tattoo rule and makes up for it with three private open-air baths (cypress, binchotan charcoal and natural stone), 50 minutes for 3,000 yen before tax, booked by phone. Twenty-two rooms have their own open-air bath. On weekdays a day visitor can rent a private open-air bath with a ten-mat room attached, 4,500 yen for up to four.

Kanazawa is the door. Yamashiro, Yamanaka and Katayamazu are eighteen minutes on the Shinkansen to Kaga-Onsen and then a local bus of ten to thirty minutes. Awara is the next Shinkansen stop, 26 minutes, and eight minutes on the Keifuku bus. Awazu is the IR Ishikawa Railway, the old JR line, 38 minutes, and a short bus. Komatsu Airport, with flights from Tokyo Haneda, is closer to these towns than Kanazawa is.. Suimei · map data © OpenStreetMap contributors · open in Google Maps

JR Hokuriku Area Pass Four days on the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Tsuruga and Kurobe-Unazukionsen, non-reserved, for 7,000 yen. It covers the ride from Kanazawa to Kaga-Onsen; the Hokutetsu Kaga bus from the station is paid separately. Worth it if Awara, Unazuki or a second Kaga town is on the same trip. Sold on Klook.

What happens when you arrive

Skip the shared baths and reserve the private one the way this page describes. Once the door is closed, the bath is yours.

How we know

Confirmed from official site, bath structure rather than a tattoo policy (the inn’s 温泉 page, 客室 page, FAQ and the news post of 12 June 2025 on day-use private baths)
