Soraichi
心和む名湯の宿 曽良一
Does Soraichi allow tattoos? Yes!
Sato-no-yu takes the spring straight from the source with nothing added and nothing recirculated, and Soraichi is the only inn in Akiu whose own FAQ says a tattooed guest may get into it.
This is the one house in the Akiu valley whose own FAQ says tattooed guests may use the shared baths. The inn says it respects guests’ cultural backgrounds and values and that people with tattoos may use the large baths, with one limit it states plainly: very extensive tattoos, or anything likely to unsettle other bathers, may be asked to stay out. It then adds that the reserved barrel bath, at extra cost, is open to anyone. Sixteen rooms, so the baths are small and quiet, and day visitors are admitted to the same two bath halls.

How we know
Confirmed from official site (the inn’s own FAQ, 入浴・風呂 category, under タトゥーのあるお客様の大浴場の利用について; the sentence about the reserved bath sits behind the 続きを読む toggle)

Best for: Getting into a source-fed Akiu bath uncovered, with a locking cypress barrel bath as the fallback
Sixteen rooms, founded 1889 as Satoya Ryokan, renamed Soraichi in April 2025 and reopened after renovation in June 2025, so older listings still carry the old name. Two bath halls swap between men and women at 12:00 and 21:00: Rairai-no-yu (indoor plus open-air, with added water) and Sato-no-yu (indoor, 100 percent source-fed, no added water, no recirculation). The reserved bath is a cypress barrel, 1,800 yen for 45 minutes per party, booked in person at check-in only. Day bathing runs 11:00–14:30, last entry 14:00, 950 yen adult, closed Tuesdays and on irregular days, so call first. Dinner is served in the room or in the hall dining room, your choice. Bath tax 150 yen for adults.
