Does Momonoki Villa allow tattoos? In a private bath
Momonoki Villa rents three cottages of Hita cedar on a hillside above Amagase, and the bath in each one, of natural Amagase spring water, belongs to the group that has the house.
Momonoki Villa publishes no tattoo rule. It rents each of its three cottages whole, and every cottage has its own bath of Amagase spring water, so there is no shared bath to face.
The bath
Each of the three cottages has its own bath of natural Amagase spring water, so nobody shares. The operator calls the water soft and says it warms you to the core, and the indoor tubs can be used 24 hours a day.
The Main Cottage has a half-open-air rock bath big enough for four adults, built into a corner with a wide window on each side; in summer the operator turns the heat down so children can play in it like a pool. The Family Cottage has a half-open-air tub of natural granite framed in wood, for three or four. The one-story Tiny Cottage has a stone tub indoors and, outside the front door, a small open-air bath for one or two with a wide view, which the operator suggests for stargazing.
The spring comes out at about 45°C, and there is no boiler behind the Tiny Cottage's outdoor tub, so it closes from about November to March. The operator does not name the spring type.
The hotel
Momonoki Villa is three self-catering cottages on a hill in Itsumaichi, south of Amagase, each rented whole and all facing the mountains. The two-story Main Cottage, 96 square meters, sleeps up to 12, with a 16-mat bedroom and a theater room with a 100-inch screen upstairs and a children's room. The two-story Family Cottage, 72 square meters, sleeps up to 7 and has a double hammock and a kids' nook. The Tiny Cottage is a 50-square-meter tatami house for up to 6. Each has a full kitchen, a washing machine and a covered wooden deck looking at the mountains, where the operator promises sunsets and the turn of the seasons.
