Ogase Tennen-yu Senraku Onsen
おがせ天然湯 せんらく温泉
Does Ogase Tennen-yu Senraku Onsen allow tattoos? In a private bath
Senraku Onsen drains and refills each of its eight family baths for every party, with spring water that flows straight through, and keeps them open until midnight.
Senraku Onsen publishes no tattoo rule. It rents eight family baths by the 50 minutes, drained and refilled for every party, so a tattooed bather can soak alone instead of using the shared open-air baths.
The bath
The spring is a sodium bicarbonate and chloride spring, weakly alkaline, which the operator calls a bath for beauty for its smooth feel. It lists it for neuralgia, muscle pain, stiff shoulders, stiff joints, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive trouble, poor circulation, recovery after illness and fatigue, and says the water can be drunk for digestive trouble, diabetes, gout and liver complaints. The two large open-air baths, one for men and one for women, look down on the river from among the trees. Admission is ¥600, or ¥300 for elementary school children.
The eight family baths share the open-air baths' view, by the operator's account. It says their water flows straight through without recirculation and every tub is drained and refilled for each party. Four are rock baths, named Uguisu, Oshidori, Sekirei and Hototogisu, and two are cut stone, Yamadori and Yoshikiri; these cost ¥1,900 for 50 minutes. The two hinoki cypress baths, Kawasemi and Yamasemi, cost ¥2,100. Each extra 10 minutes adds ¥200.
Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and 10 a.m. to midnight on weekends and holidays, with last entry at 11 p.m.
