Does Jozankei Yurakusoan allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

A Kyoritsu Resort inn where the hot spring reaches every room, and a reservable open-air bath sits beside the large one for anyone who would rather not share.

Kyoritsu Resort states on the house’s own page that every room has a natural hot spring bath — “全室天然温泉客室風呂付き” — and lists a reservable open-air bath alongside the large bath. Between the two, nothing here depends on being allowed into shared water. No tattoo rule is published for the large bath.

Toyako Onsen is the Hokuto, the limited express to Hakodate, as far as Toya, then a Donan bus of 24 minutes around the lake, about 2 h 20 in all. Niseko is about 3 h 25 by way of Otaru and Kutchan, or a direct highway coach for less money. Jozankei has no railway: the Jotetsu Kappa Liner runs there from Sapporo Station in 56 minutes and is booked in advance. What happens when you arrive

Skip the shared baths and reserve the private one the way this page describes. Once the door is closed, the bath is yours.

How we know

Confirmed from official site — bath structure, not a tattoo policy (the operator’s own property page)

Best for: Booking the reservable open-air bath and still having a tub in the room

Run by Kyoritsu Resort, the Dormy group’s ryokan arm. Reachable on the Jotetsu bus from Sapporo Station in about 1 h 10, or in about 55 minutes on the reservation-only Kappa Liner to Hoheikyo Onsen, getting off at Jozankei Jinja-mae.
