Does Shotoen allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

Shotoen was rebuilt around dogs, down to a rooftop reservable bath their owners can take them into.

Shotoen publishes no tattoo rule, so its rooftop open-air bath and two large baths are unanswered. Two answers exist in the building anyway. Rooms renovated in February 2022, in both Japanese and Western layouts, have a view bath of their own, and the rooftop reservable open-air bath is let to one party at a time. That bath is set up so a dog can come in with you, which is the whole point of this house.

What happens when you arrive

Skip the shared baths and reserve the private one the way this page describes. Once the door is closed, the bath is yours.

How we know

Confirmed from official site — bath structure, not a tattoo policy (the rooms page and the 温泉 page, 屋上貸切露天風呂)

Best for: Anyone traveling with a dog who also needs a bath away from other guests

The rooftop shared bath, Ozorakai, is open 5:00 to 22:00. Rooms carry dog beds and dog amenities as standard and the inn takes dogs into its dining arrangements. Two large baths, Kinpa and Ginpa, round out the water.
