A big village hotel whose two family baths, one of them half open to the air, are rented by the hour to staying guests and filled from the same free-flowing Akakura spring as its large bath, Uen-no-yu.

No tattoo rule is published for the shared baths. The hotel has two reservable family baths, staying guests only, at 2,200 yen an hour, booked through the front desk. One is semi-open-air. Both run on 100 percent free-flowing Akakura water.

Where it is

Everything here is reached from Tokyo. Karuizawa is an hour on the Hokuriku Shinkansen and Echigo-Yuzawa 79 minutes on the Joetsu Shinkansen, both with no change. Kawaguchiko is the Fuji Excursion from Shinjuku, about two hours, and Isawa the Kaiji, an hour and forty. JR East Pass Covers the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano. The Shinano Railway on to Myoko-Kogen is a separate company and is paid separately. Sold on Klook.

Two family baths (貸切家族風呂), staying guests only, 08:00–22:00, 2,200 yen per hour; book at the front desk (extension 9). The site states the private bath and the smaller Rakuraku-no-yu indoor bath are 100 percent free-flowing. The Ishiwari-no-yu indoor bath is closed. The Annex opens only December to March. Day bathing is 1,000 yen when the baths are not reserved or crowded.
