修善寺離れ宿 鬼の栖

Does Oninosumika allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

Nine detached cottages named after Kyoto districts, each with its own spring-fed tub, and not one shared tub anywhere on the property.

There is no shared bath to have a rule about. The inn states that every room has its own open-air, semi-open-air or indoor bath, and its bath page describes nothing else: no large bath, no reservable family bath. Nine rooms, nine baths, and the question of who else is in the water does not arise.

Izuhakone Railway and bus pass One or two days on the Izuhakone Railway and its buses, which covers the Sunzu line from Mishima to Shuzenji and the bus from the station into the onsen town. The Shinkansen from Tokyo to Mishima is paid separately. Sold on Klook.

What happens when you arrive

Skip the shared baths and reserve the private one the way this page describes. Once the door is closed, the bath is yours.

How we know

Confirmed from official site — bath structure, not a tattoo policy (the inn’s own 客室 and 温泉 pages)

Best for: A traveler who would rather the shared bath simply not exist

The nine rooms are Shimogamo, Arashiyama, Yamashina, Uji, Saga, Kiyomizu, Kurama, Higashiyama and Nagasaki, all named for places in and around Kyoto. Seven have an open-air bath and two a semi-open-air one; Saga and Nagasaki are maisonettes. All are detached and all are fed with Shuzenji spring water. Kaiseki dinner. Reception answers 09:00–19:00.
