Onyado Nono Toyama

Does Onyado Nono Toyama allow tattoos? In a private bath
Onyado Nono Toyama pumps a dark brown simple spring from 1,200 m under the castle town and pipes it into hinoki cypress tubs in four of its five room types, the only Dormy Inn that does. The shared Tsurugi-no-yu bath refuses tattoos, so the room tub is the answer.
The hotel turns tattooed guests away from its shared bath, Tsurugi-no-yu, as a rule. Its FAQ adds that some hotels in the group hand out cover seals, two at most, and that a tattoo small enough to hide under one may bathe, but it hedges on whether this hotel has them. The sure answer here is a room with its own hinoki tub of the hotel’s spring: four of the five room types have one, and nobody else uses it.
The bath
The hotel's own well goes down 1,200 m and brings up a simple spring, low-tonicity, alkaline and low-temperature, that comes out dark brown with a thick, slippery feel. The shared bath, Tsurugi-no-yu on the second floor, has a men's side and a women's side, each with a hot indoor tub, a rock bath, pot baths (two on the men's side), a falling-water massage spout, a semi-open-air bath, a chilled cold plunge, a dry sauna with a television, a mist sauna and chairs to cool off in. It opens from 3 p.m. to 10 a.m.; the saunas stop between 1 and 5 a.m. Day visitors are admitted in two bands, 6 to 9 a.m. for ¥900 and 3 to 9 p.m. for ¥1,200, children ¥700, last entry an hour before each band ends.
The point for a tattooed guest is the room. The moderate double, Hollywood twin, deluxe twin and superior triple each have a hinoki box tub in the bathroom filled from the same natural spring, with a window beside it; the hotel says it is the only Dormy Inn with a hot spring hinoki bath in the room. Only the standard twin, which has a shower booth, lacks one. The tub is yours for the whole stay, so there is nothing to book and nobody to share with.
The hotel
A Dormy Inn group hotel done in the Onyado Nono style, with tatami mats underfoot in the corridors and every room, in the Sogawa shopping district below Toyama Castle. Rooms range from a 16 m² double to a 31 m² triple with Serta beds. Breakfast is the group's half-buffet with eggs cooked to order and a local dish, here a seafood rice bowl. Check-in is 3 p.m. and check-out 11 a.m.; the adjoining NPC Yutown Sogawa parking garage charges hotel guests ¥1,400 a night with in-and-out privileges.
Good to know
- Four of five room types have the spring tub; the standard twin has only a shower, so pick a room whose name says it has the hinoki bath.
- The Toyama tram loop stops at Otemall, a minute from the door; walking from the station takes about 15 minutes.
- Day-use bathing in two bands, ¥900 in the early morning and ¥1,200 in the evening, towels not included.
- The seal rule is hedged: the FAQ says some group hotels keep seals, two per guest, and may run out.
Getting there
From Toyama Station the hotel is about 15 minutes on foot. Or take the city tram loop line from the station to the Otemall stop and walk a minute. Drivers come 15 minutes from the Toyama interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway and park in the NPC Yutown Sogawa garage next door, ¥1,400 a night for guests with a pass from the front desk.
Toyama STN · Hokuriku Shinkansen; then the city tram loop line to Otemall

How we know
Confirmed from official site (the hot spring page and the FAQ for the shared-bath rule; the rooms page for the in-room spring tubs)
当ホテルでは刺青・タトゥー等をされている方の入浴はお断りしております。但し施設によっては、隠し用シール(8 cm × 10 cm (3.1 × 3.9 in))をご用意しております。
This is the rule for the shared baths. It doesn’t apply to the private baths.
Best for: a city stop with a hinoki tub of dark brown spring water inside your own room, two tram stops from the station
Moderate double (16.1 m²), Hollywood twin (20 m²), deluxe twin and superior triple (31.2 m²) rooms each have a hinoki tub fed with the hotel’s natural hot spring; the standard twin has a shower booth only. The hotel calls it the only in-room spring hinoki bath in the Dormy Inn group. The FAQ lists seals in three sizes, up to 11.8 cm × 17.2 cm (4.6 × 6.8 in), and says supply is limited. Day-use bathing in the shared bath runs 6 to 9 a.m. (¥900) and 3 to 9 p.m. (¥1,200), last entry an hour before closing.
