Does Gensen Itto Iwate Shizukuishi allow tattoos? In a private bath
Gensen Itto opened in Oshuku in July 2026 on a spring the hotel puts into its tubs exactly as it rises, at about 45°C and more than 100 liters a minute. Its two suite types carry that water to a tub of their own.
Gensen Itto publishes no tattoo rule. Its two suite types each have their own open-air or half-open-air tub of the inn’s spring, so book one of those rather than a twin room and the shared bath is not needed.
The bath
The hotel's spring is Oshuku Onsen, an alkaline simple spring at pH 8.3 that the hotel says rises at about 45°C and more than 100 liters a minute. It goes into the baths with no added water, no heating, no filtering and no recirculation. The hotel calls it a skin-smoothing water with a soft, slightly slick feel, and lists it for cold sensitivity, fatigue, muscle pain and joint pain.
The Gensen Suite has its own open-air bath and the Grand Gensen Suite a half-open-air bath, each set by windows onto the wooded valley. Both suites run 79 to 81 square meters and sleep five, the first with two beds and futons, the second with four beds and a sofa bed. The hotel does not say how many of each it has; book the room type by name.
The large bath has wide windows onto the forest and a todo-ne space, a Tohoku way of bathing where you lie on a floor that the overflowing spring keeps wet. There is also a shared open-air bath.
The hotel
Gensen Itto Iwate Shizukuishi opened on July 1, 2026, the second hotel of the Gensen Itto brand, which Core Global Management runs as a spring-first hotel line. It has 57 rooms in a Japanese-modern style that pairs tatami mats with beds, in four types from a modern Japanese twin to the two suites. Breakfast and dinner are buffets of Iwate produce in the dining hall. Check-in is 3 p.m. and check-out 11 a.m.

Best for: a suite with its own tub of unheated, undiluted Oshuku spring water
Two of the four room types have their own bath: the Gensen Suite with an open-air bath and the Grand Gensen Suite with a half-open-air bath, both about 80 square meters for up to five. The hotel does not publish how many rooms of each type there are. It says its spring goes into the tubs with no added water, no heating, no filtering and no recirculation.
