Yumori Hotel Taikan

Does Yumori Hotel Taikan allow tattoos? In a private bath
Yumori Hotel Taikan pours its own spring, with no water or heat added, into a 25-meter bath and into the open-air tubs of eleven rooms, and those room tubs are where its group sends tattooed guests.
Tattooed guests are refused in the hotel’s large bath and open-air baths. Its parent group, Itoen Hotels, tells them to use the bath in their room or a private bath instead. Taikan has no reservable private bath, so the way in is one of its eleven rooms with an open-air tub of the hotel’s own spring: nine in the Bettei Urara wing and two in the East wing.
The bath
Taikan runs on its own source, Taikan-no-yu, which flows at 700 liters a minute and goes into the tubs with no water added and no heating. It is a simple sulfur spring, alkaline at pH 9.0, with 76.8 mg of metasilicic acid, and the hotel calls it a beauty bath. The listed indications run from neuralgia and joint pain to diabetes and chronic skin complaints.
The shared baths are a large indoor bath about 25 meters long, which the hotel ranks among the biggest in northern Tohoku, a garden open-air bath called Yakushi-no-yu, an open-air bath with a view of Mount Iwate on clear days, and an open-air bath with a falling-water shower. They open from 3 p.m. to midnight and from 5 to 10 a.m.
The private answer is in the rooms. In the Bettei Urara wing the suite, the three deluxe rooms and the five standard rooms each have a source-flowing open-air bath, usable at any hour of the stay. The East wing has two more open-air bath rooms, one with a cypress tub and one with a ceramic tub. The hotel's photos show square tubs of pale stone set on timber decks, open to the trees.
The hotel
A large hotel of 107 rooms in several wings beside Lake Gosho, run by Itoen Hotels. Meals are buffets, and many room types add a premium lounge with free-flowing drinks. Bettei Urara is the top wing: nine rooms with their own open-air bath, meals in a private dining room called Urara Dining, and an 11 a.m. check-out. Other rooms range from Japanese rooms in the Shusui-kan and Suimei-kan wings to Western twins in the main building, where lake-view Japanese-Western rooms face Mount Iwate. Parking is free for about 100 cars; pets are not allowed.
