Akiu Fuga

秋保風雅

Does Akiu Fuga allow tattoos? Yes, covered

Cover seal required

A pair of rock-built open-air baths hang over the Natori river here and are rented by the 45 minutes, in an adults-only house that turns away day bathers entirely.

Relo Hotels, which operates Fuga, publishes a seal rule and applies it to the large baths, the sauna and the open-air baths alike. A tattoo counts as coverable if two of the hotel’s own seals hide it. The seals measure 10cm × 15cm, cost 250 yen each and are sold at the front desk, so nothing needs to be brought. Refusing to wear them can mean being turned away from bathing. The two reserved open-air baths are booked through the guest account and sidestep the question.
