Does Dogo Onsen Dogo Miyu allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

Thirty rooms on the hill, each with its own onsen tub and a deck facing Matsuyama Castle, in an inn that calls itself a house for modern toji and says exactly which bath a tattooed guest should use.

Dogo Miyu is unusual in saying both halves out loud. Its FAQ refuses tattooed guests the top-floor view bath and then, in the same sentence, tells them to use the open-air bath on their own balcony instead. Every one of the thirty rooms has one, filled with Dogo water piped up from the town, so the refusal costs you the view bath and nothing else. The inn also states plainly that the water in both is warmed and recirculated rather than free-flowing.

How we know

Confirmed from official site (the inn’s own FAQ, which both states the refusal and names the in-room bath as the alternative)

Best for: Travelers who want the refusal and the remedy written down by the same house

Thirty rooms, all Japanese-Western, all with an onsen open-air bath and a view deck over Matsuyama Castle, usable around the clock. The inn says the water in the room baths and the view bath is piped from Dogo and run on a heated recirculating system with no dilution, so it is not 源泉かけ流し. The view bath runs 15:00–24:00 and 06:00–10:00. Opened after a 2018 renovation; run by the same company as Hotel Tsubakikan and Dogo hakuro.
