Does Dogo Onsen Tsubaki-no-yu allow tattoos? Yes!
Matsuyama’s own bath, in a storehouse-style building shaped like an L, where residents come with their own soap and the granite tubs are fed from the same source that fills the Honkan.
Tsubaki-no-yu is the neighborhood bath of the three and falls under the same position: the city has said a tattoo alone is not something it can refuse people over, and the shared manners page for the three baths lists no tattoo rule. Expect a room of Matsuyama regulars rather than visitors. Nothing may be worn in the water except the bathing garment made for surgical scars, which the shop sells.

Check in and go to the bath. There is no seal to buy and nothing to declare.
How we know
Confirmed from the operator’s own publications, with a caveat: the statement is Matsuyama’s, made by the mayor at a recorded press conference on the city site in July 2012, and the city still owns the three baths. The current bathing-manners page at dogo.jp/manners sets out the house rules in detail and carries no tattoo clause. Neither page has been restated since the Dogo Onsen Consortium took over as designated manager.

Best for: A quick 500-yen soak in the same spring as the Honkan, without the queue or the courses
500 yen for adults and 200 yen for children since Ehime raised the prefectural cap in 2026; open 06:30–23:00 with the ticket window closing at 22:30 and an hour’s limit. Granite tubs around a yugama column, free-flowing and neither heated nor diluted. Nothing is provided: shampoo and conditioner are 50 yen each at the shop, lockers are coin-operated and the dryer takes 10 yen for three minutes. Built for the 1953 National Sports Festival, rebuilt in 1984 and renovated again in December 2017.
