Does Hotel and Restaurant Kizan Club allow tattoos? In a private bath
Kizan Club is a four-room hotel built in the style of a Taisho-era Western house, and it keeps its flowing Hita spring for two private baths that guests book by the hour at no charge.
Kizan Club publishes no tattoo rule. It has no shared bath: its two hot spring baths are taken in private by time slot, free for staying guests, so a tattooed guest bathes alone or with their own party.
The bath
The hotel has no shared bath. Its water is a simple spring, used straight from the source without recirculation, and the hotel repeats Hita's old name for it, a spring for couples hoping for children. It lists the water for rheumatism, neuralgia, fatigue and stress.
All of it goes to two private baths, which every guest takes alone or with their own party, booked by time. They are free for staying guests; the only charge is the ¥150 bathing tax. On the day of arrival they run 3 to 11 p.m., and the next morning 7 to 10 a.m. The tubs are rectangular and lined with small blue-green mosaic tiles, inside walls of pale wood, with grab rails along the side. The washing area is wide enough for a family, and shampoo, conditioner and body soap are set out.
The hotel
The hotel was built to evoke a Western-style house of the Taisho era, with lattice doors and period furniture, and it also hosts weddings. There are four rooms, three twins and one double, all looking onto the Mikuma river, where the summer fireworks can be watched from the window. Each room has a shower booth and Serta beds. The second-floor restaurant serves Western grill cooking, with Bungo beef steak at dinner. A sister inn, Tabi no Yado Satsuki, offers Japanese rooms.
