Does Isawa Onsen Ryokan Kisen allow tattoos? In a private bath
Kisen’s private bath is the bathroom the inn used in 1961, the year hot water burst out of the vineyards and Isawa became a spa town, restored and renamed Hoyu.
Kisen publishes nothing on tattoos. Its private bath, Hoyu, holds seven or eight people and costs 3,300 yen for 50 minutes, booked ahead.

Best for: A group that wants one large bath to itself
The inn says Hoyu is the bathroom it actually used when the Isawa spring first came up in 1961, brought back into service; the name is read as a pun on “for you.” Sunlit by day. The ryokan association lists the inn with rooms that have a hot spring bath, but the inn’s own room page was not found to confirm it, so book the private bath.
