Does Kozantei Ubuya allow tattoos? Yes, covered
Ubuya says every one of its rooms looks across Lake Kawaguchi to Mount Fuji, and its tattoo rule is exact about size: two cover seals, each 10 centimeters square, handed over at the front desk.
Covered, within a limit. Ubuya turns tattooed guests away from its large bath in principle, but lets you in if two cover seals of 10 by 10 centimeters hide everything, and the front desk hands them out. A tattoo too big for two seals needs a room with its own open-air bath, which Ubuya sells in several grades.

Best for: A guest with one or two small tattoos who wants the lakeside large bath
Seal size: 10 × 10 cm, two at most, from the front desk. The inn says every room looks at Mount Fuji across the lake; the rooms with an open-air bath are the imperial suite 501, the special room 401 and the open-air-bath Japanese rooms. Ubuya does not take day bathers, and the Q&A says spa treatments are closed to pregnant guests.
