Does Naruko Waseda Sajiki-yu allow tattoos? In a private bath
Seven Waseda University students drilled this spring in the summer of 1948 on a geology field course, and fifty years later the university’s own architecture professor rebuilt the bathhouse over it: a yellow plaster box with the bathing hall stepped down inside it like seating in a theater.
The bathhouse publishes no tattoo rule, and neither does Osaki City, which owns it. What it does publish is a private open-air bath you can take on your own: 50 minutes for 1,100 yen on top of the entry fee, asked for at the front desk or booked by phone. That is the only answer here we can stand behind, because the shared halls have no stated rule at all.

Closed since 3 September 2026 for work on the spring supply. Osaki City’s page, updated 1 September, gave the closure as 3 to 10 September; the tourism association posted on 10 September that it runs 当面の間, for the time being, with no end date, and the hand bath and foot bath at the station are down for the same reason. When open: 09:00–21:30, last admission 21:00, year-round. Adults 660 yen, children 330. Sulfur sodium sulfate chloride water. Bathe once and the desk gives you a re-entry ticket for the same day; the tatami rest hall is free from 10:00 to 16:00. Body soap and showers are provided, shampoo, conditioner, dryers and towels cost extra. Run by Naruko Machizukuri, the town development company.
