Forest Resort Hotel Green Pearl Nasu
フォレストリゾート ホテルグリーンパール那須
Does Forest Resort Hotel Green Pearl Nasu allow tattoos? In a private bath
Green Pearl’s open-air bath of milky sulfur water turns private for whoever reserves it by phone, and its newest rooms have a tub outside the window.
Green Pearl publishes no tattoo rule. Its open-air bath can be reserved for your party alone, first come by phone, and rooms rebuilt in July 2024 have their own open-air bath.
The bath
The water is a milky white sulfur spring, a hydrogen-sulfide simple sulfur spring that the hotel classes as weakly acidic, hypotonic and hot, drawn from a blend of the Inagawa, Magnesium Inagawa and Prefectural Electric Bureau B-3 sources. It runs through the tubs without recirculation, and the hotel says the smell of sulfur meets you at the door. It lists neuralgia, muscle pain, chronic digestive and skin complaints, women's ailments, diabetes, high blood pressure and hardened arteries as the traditional uses, and dates the spring to 1,380 years ago.
There is one large indoor bath for men and one for women, which swap between morning and evening. The open-air bath is a rectangular tub rimmed in red granite under a pillared roof, with a lattice fence and trees beyond; the hotel says you see stars from it at night. It can be reserved for your party alone. The home page says there are set private hours as well as swap times, but the bath page no longer prints them; reservations are first come, by phone, so ask for the current windows when you book.
The other private option is the room. Rooms with their own open-air bath opened on July 22, 2024, 10 mats for one to three guests, with the tub outside the window filled with Nasu spring water. Yukata and amenities are picked up from an amenity bar at the front desk.
The hotel
A 21-room Forest Group hotel on a rise above the Nasu Kaido, run with a Yumeguri stamp book across the group's inns. Besides the open-air-bath rooms there are 12-mat Japanese rooms for up to six with a veranda, Western twins, a barrier-free Western room with a combined bathroom, and 6-to-12-mat Japanese rooms that use the big bath. Dinner is a kaiseki course in the dining room from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the menu rewritten every two months; breakfast is a Japanese basket tray from 7:30 to 9 a.m. with as much grated yam as you want. The lobby has a round fireplace and a self-service espresso machine that is free from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
