Does Enraku allow tattoos? In a private bath
Enraku’s own FAQ says it has no private bath to rent and sends you to the rooms instead: fourteen of them have an open-air tub of Unazuki water on the gorge side, and the Taihokaku wing, closest to the river, was refitted with stone and ceramic ones in 2021.
Enraku publishes no tattoo rule and has no private bath for hire; its FAQ says so and points to the rooms instead. Fourteen rooms have an open-air bath of Unazuki spring water facing the gorge, in stone, ceramic or hinoki, and the best of them is on the 14th floor. Book one of those and the shared baths never come up.

JR Hokuriku Area Pass Four days on the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Tsuruga and Kurobe-Unazukionsen, non-reserved, for 7,000 yen. It covers the Shinkansen from Kanazawa to Kurobe-Unazukionsen. The Toyama Chiho Railway from Shin-Kurobe up to Unazuki-Onsen is a private line and is paid separately. Sold on Klook.

Best for: A spring-water tub on your own balcony above the Kurobe River
Room counts from the ryokan association: 5 Japanese-Western rooms and 9 Japanese rooms with an open-air bath, 2 Japanese-Western rooms and 26 Japanese rooms without. The Taihokaku wing, closest to the gorge, got new ceramic and stone spring-water tubs in July 2021, with a screen that opens or closes the bath to the air; the hinoki tubs are in the main building; the Ho-o VIP room on the 14th floor has its own spring-water open-air bath and a tea room next door. Meals in the room or a private dining room. Shared baths: open-air Hana-no-yu (3F, 400-year-old hinoki) and Kotone-no-yu (1F) swap sexes, 12:00–25:00 and 5:00–10:00; indoor baths with sauna. No pets.
