Does Kanazawa Yuwaku Yamane allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

Yamane doesn’t publish a tattoo policy, so ask for its private open-air bath at check-in. The tub is hollowed from a single block of Tomuro stone in a bamboo grove.

The inn publishes no tattoo rule for its shared baths. Its notice of July 11, 2026 closed the shared open-air bath to save fuel but kept the private bath running.

The bath

The private open-air bath, Roman Hiko, is carved from Tomuro stone, which the inn calls the Kaga domain’s secret stone. It costs ¥2,200 for 45 minutes, between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. The inn sets the time and may turn requests down when it’s busy. Several room plans include a free 45-minute session.

Two rooms have a tub of their own: Fukujin, with a semi-open-air bath, and Gozengamine, a 68-square-meter detached room opened in 2018, with a private open-air bath. The other rooms’ bathrooms aren’t hot-spring water.

The shared baths are open 3:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The indoor bath has stained glass in the style of Takehisa Yumeji, the painter who stayed in Yuwaku. The bamboo-grove open-air bath, with a jacuzzi and two waterfall showers, is closed for now because of fuel costs. These are shared baths with no published tattoo rule.

The hotel

Ten rooms, all non-smoking. Check-in is 3 p.m., checkout 10:30 a.m. Dinner and breakfast are in two dining rooms, one built around an irori, a sunken hearth. Parking is free.
