Nothing to cover. The Kanazawa bath page states that the hotel has abolished its admission restriction on body art and tattoos, and the only guests the same notes turn away are drunk ones. The Kanazawa site dates the change to 16 October 2025, ahead of the group-wide date the guide recorded for Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. No seal, no size limit.

Best for: A tattoo of any size and a sunset over Kanazawa Castle Park from the tub

Top floor, guests only, free, 15:00 to 09:00. Men’s bath Sai and women’s bath Asano, which are also the names of the city’s two rivers, with a sleeping tub facing the view over Kanazawa Castle Park and Kenrokuen. The page names no spring and publishes no analysis, so treat it as heated tap water. The Kanazawa top page notice reads 2025年10月16日（木）より、大浴場施設においてボディアート・タトゥ等の受入制限を撤廃いたします。 and adds that restrictions differ by facility. City rules bar mixed bathing for children above the stated age.

Two seals’ worth of tattoo is admitted. The bath page refuses tattoos and then makes an exception for anything two cover seals of about 10 by 15 centimeters can hide, and sends you to the front desk to ask. The page does not say whether the seals are free or sold, so ask when you check in.

Best for: A tattoo that fits under two larger-than-usual seals, in the middle of town

Guests only, free, 06:00 to 10:00 and 15:00 to 01:00. The women’s entrance opens with a daily code from the front desk. Room wear and room slippers are allowed in the corridor to the bath; bring towels from the room. Milk and flavored milk from a vending machine outside. The page names no spring, so this is not a hot spring. Kanazawa ordinance limits mixed bathing to children aged six and under.

Buy seals at the desk and bathe. The facilities page refuses tattoos unless cover seals hide them, and prices the seals: 80 by 100 millimeters, 200 yen each at the front desk, two at most. Two seals of that size cover a small piece, not a sleeve.

Best for: A small tattoo and a room a few minutes from the station’s west exit

Second floor, guests only, 06:00 to 10:00 and 16:00 to 01:00. The women’s bath is decorated on a Kaga-yuzen silk motif, the men’s with stained-glass-style panels. The chain allows bathing wear in women’s baths and sells it at the desk. No spring is named. Jalan now lists this address under the name Daiwa Royal Hotel D-PREMIUM Kanazawa, so the hotel may be changing its name; Booking.com’s slug already reads daiwa-royal-d-premium-kanazawa.

The bath page refuses tattoos and, in the next line, says the hotel sells 8-by-10-centimeter concealment seals. The FAQ says the same with firmer words and a confusing aside that stickers are refused too, then points to the seals in the shop. Read together, a small tattoo under the hotel’s own seal is the intended route; confirm at the desk before you undress.

Best for: Sauna rounds by the castle park with a small covered tattoo

FAQ answer: 入れ墨・タトゥー（シール類含む）のあるお客様の浴場へのご入場・ご利用は固くお断りしております。売店にてカバーシールを販売しております。 The bath opened on 15 August 2026 and is for staying guests only, 15:00 to 23:30 and 06:00 to 09:00. Water is trucked in from the Kanazawa Muryoji spring, a strong sodium chloride spring, and the hotel says it adds water, heats and recirculates. Main tub 7 meters by 2.5, an auto-loyly sauna, a cold plunge at tap-water temperature with no chiller, and a semi-open-air bath. A government employees’ mutual-aid hotel, open to the public.

Completely covered is admitted. The Route Inn group FAQ refuses tattoos and then opens the large bath to anyone whose tattoo is fully hidden under cover seals, and the Kanazawa property pages add nothing to change it. The group does not supply or size the seals, so bring your own.

Best for: A covered tattoo, a late train and a bath open until two in the morning

Bath Tabibito no Yu on the 14th floor with a view, men and women separate, 15:00 to 02:00 and 05:00 to 10:00. Not a hot spring: the hotel describes an artificial radium bath made with the ministry-approved product Radihope. The only Route Inn inside Kanazawa city on the group’s Ishikawa list.

APA Hotel Kanazawa-Chuo, APA Spa

Covered is admitted. The property’s own bath FAQ answers no to tattoos and then allows any tattoo that the company’s designated seals, two at 10 by 12 centimeters, can cover. APA’s sister hotel at Kanazawa Station says guests get those two seals free at the front desk per person per night, and day visitors buy them; the Chuo page does not repeat the price, so ask at the desk. Guests of APA Hotel Kanazawa-Katamachi, which has no bath, are sent here free under the same rule.

The FAQ calls it natural hot spring, sodium chloride, weakly alkaline and hypotonic, at a high temperature. Men have one indoor and three outdoor tubs, women one indoor and one outdoor. Sauna and a ganbanyoku stone-bed room booked at the 14th-floor desk in 30-minute slots. Guests free, 06:00 to 24:00; day bathing 1,000 yen. No private bath. Bring towels from the room. APA Hotel Kanazawa-Katamachi’s FAQ says its guests may use this spa free.

Staying guests get the seals free. The property FAQ refuses tattoos and warns that anyone found out inside will be asked to leave, then admits a tattoo covered by no more than two of APA’s 10-by-12-centimeter point cover seals. The front desk hands over two per guest per night at no charge, one night’s worth at a time; day visitors buy theirs at the desk.

Not a hot spring: the FAQ says 沸かし湯, heated water. Men have three tubs and a cold plunge, women two and a cold plunge; both sides have an open-air bath (a pot tub for women), and the men’s side has three chairs for cooling off outside. Busiest 19:00 to 23:00. The FAQ gives the hours once as 06:00 to 24:00 and elsewhere as 06:00 to 25:00. Day bathing 1,500 yen for three hours. No private bath. Bring towels from the room.

Kinjo Onsen Motoyu

Rent a family bath. Kinjo Onsen runs 14 private bathrooms beside its public bath, nine of which can be reserved online, so you lock the door and have the spring to yourself. The house turns away drunks and pets and publishes nothing about tattoos, which is why the private room is the answer rather than the public side.

Best for: Locals’ spring water in a room of your own, bookable ahead

Family baths 12:00 to 24:00, last entry 23:00; closed Tuesdays (the next day when Tuesday is a holiday) and New Year’s Day. The rooms named “〇〇とおふろ” can be booked and cannot be extended; the plain “ofuro” rooms take walk-ins and can be extended by up to 30 minutes on weekdays. Coupon books: seven visits 9,800 yen, three visits 5,000 yen; single prices are published only as an image. No soap or shampoo in the rooms: buy minis at the desk for 30 yen or bring your own. Own two wells; the operator describes the public bath as 100 percent flowing spring. Public bath 06:00 to 23:00.

Arimatsu Onsen Motoyu Lemon-yu

Take a family bath upstairs. Lemon-yu has eight private rooms on the second floor, and two of them come with their own sauna, self-loyly and cold plunge. They cannot be reserved, so arrive and wait your turn. No tattoo rule is published for the public bath downstairs.

Best for: A private sauna round with a cold plunge, on coffee-colored spring water

Standard rooms (6): 60 minutes, 1,700 yen for one, 2,000 yen for two, 300 yen per extra adult, extension 200 yen per 10 minutes. Sauna rooms (2): 80 minutes, 2,300 yen for one, 2,600 yen for two, 500 yen per extra adult, extension 300 yen per 10 minutes. Same-day walk-in only; last family-bath entry 22:00. Public bath 09:00 to 23:00, closed Mondays, adults 500 yen. The operator describes the water as a brown moor spring (mole-sen).

Kanazawa Yuwaku Onsen Hyakurakuso

The private baths are the point of this inn. The Kagura annex has no large bath at all, only four private semi-open-air baths that guests use freely whenever one is empty, or reserve for 50 minutes. The main building, Iroha, adds a private open-air bath called Hanara, and 14 of the 24 rooms have their own open-air tub. No tattoo rule is published.

Best for: An inn built around private bathing, with no shared bath at all in the annex

Kagura’s four private baths: free when vacant, any number of times; advance reservation 3,300 yen for 50 minutes. Private baths 15:30 to 23:00 and 06:00 to 09:00; room baths 24 hours. Iroha guests cannot use Kagura’s facilities. Water: Yuwaku Onsen source No. 5, a sodium and calcium sulfate and chloride spring. Yuwaku is inside Kanazawa city limits; the tourism association lists Kagura and Iroha separately.

Kanazawa Yuwaku Onsen Yunode

Book one of the three rooms with a private open-air spring bath: Nadeshiko, Yuri or Yamabuki. Two more rooms, Oshidori and Shirasagi, have an indoor cypress tub, but the inn does not say that one is spring water. There is no tattoo rule on the inn’s site.

Best for: A sukiya room hung with Kaga crafts and a spring tub on the other side of the shoji

Open-air-bath rooms: Nadeshiko (furnished with Kaga crafts and work by local artists), Yuri and Yamabuki. Indoor-bath rooms: Oshidori and Shirasagi, the latter with Futamata washi shoji. One special suite with low beds. The inn describes its building as sukiya-zukuri. Agoda sells the open-air-bath rooms by name, so use that link to be sure of the bath.

Higashiyama Auberge Maki no Oto Kanazawa

Nothing is shared here: the four rooms each have their own bath, and there is no other. The inn publishes no tattoo rule and has no reason to.

Note: This is not an onsen. The only baths are the tubs in the four rooms, and the inn says they are ordinary heated water, not hot spring water.

Best for: Four rooms by the Higashi Chaya teahouses, with nobody else in your bath
