Nikko Kinugawa Hotel Mikazuki

Does Nikko Kinugawa Hotel Mikazuki allow tattoos? In a private bath
Hotel Mikazuki keeps eight suites on its CLUB9 floor, each with a stone onsen tub on the terrace, above a resort otherwise built around shared pools and baths.
The shared baths, pools and garden spa are the reason most people come, and the hotel’s own pages publish no tattoo rule for them. The private answer is the Mikazuki CLUB9 floor, where eight suites, five on the river side and three on the town side, each have a stone open-air tub filled with onsen water.

The bath
The water is an alkaline simple spring, which the hotel says is plentiful and good for neuralgia and joint pain, tiredness and skin. There are more than 20 tubs across two halls that swap between men and women. Kinu-no-yu has ten: the Iwagumi Yuga rock bath, a vibra bath, a rain bath, a silver bath, a jacuzzi, a silk bath, a jet bath, Yakushi-no-yu, the Yunomiya open-air bath and a garden bath, plus a sauna. Keikoku-no-yu is built in marble, with a gold bath, the wide Yuga-no-yu, a lie-down bath, a silk bath, a jacuzzi, the Tensui bath, a sauna and three open-air tubs on three levels: the split-stone bath, the pot bath and the Takidono waterfall bath. A 100-meter garden corridor, Kinu-no-hana, links the halls. Hours are 14:00 to 1:00 and 5:00 to 10:00, saunas 14:00 to 22:00. Day bathing has been suspended since March 12, 2025; the baths are for overnight guests only. Yumemi-no-yu, with an open-air tub, a view bath and a jacuzzi, is a private bath for groups.
The private answer is the Mikazuki CLUB9 floor. Five river-side suites have an onsen open-air tub of stone or stone tile on the terrace: Kawasemi (93.2 m²), Keiryu (91.6 m²), Yusui (93.2 m²), Seseragi (96.4 m²) and Kawashibuki (139.8 m², four beds). Three more on the town side, Susono (121.2 m²), Momiji and Komorebi (95.5 m²), have the same stone-tiled onsen tub. The 76 m² Kihinshitsu has a sauna and shower booth instead. All come with Sekkisei and Paul Stuart toiletries.
The hotel
A large spa hotel run by Sanko, part of the Hotel Mikazuki group of Chiba, founded in 1961. Rooms come in three classes: the CLUB9 premium suites, superior rooms (Wa-modern rooms with a terrace, some with a private 40-degree swimsuit tub called an opuro, kids' rooms, family rooms and deluxe twins) and standard rooms. Meals are buffets. An indoor garden spa has a 100-meter circulating pool, a water slide, waterfall, jet benches, two saunas, a jacuzzi and a cold bath, with a rooftop pool in summer; guests use it free on arrival day and the next day. There are also a kids' land, game corner, karaoke, table tennis and a shop.
