Oyado Ichifuji
御宿一富士
Does Oyado Ichifuji allow tattoos? In a private bath
One bath hall with a spring-fed open-air tub, and the inn’s own line that you can take it as a private bath whenever it is empty.
The inn publishes no tattoo rule. Its answer is the bath itself: there is one bath hall, an open-air bath with an indoor tub, and the inn says that when it is empty you can take it as a private bath. Ask at the desk for a slot; nothing is published on a fee or a time limit.
The bath
The water is an alkaline simple spring. The inn says it is 100 percent natural Kinugawa hot spring water with nothing artificial added, and lists it for neuralgia, muscle and joint pain, frozen shoulder, chronic digestive complaints, hemorrhoids and poor circulation. The open-air bath runs free-flowing from the source; the indoor tub is recirculated.
There is one bath hall. It holds the open-air bath, a tiled tub in a small walled garden of shrubs and river stones fed from a ceramic jar, and an indoor tub behind glass. The hall is given to one side at a time, men or women, so check the sign before you go in. No bath hours are published.
The private option is the same hall. The inn's outline says the bath can be used as a kashikiri, a private bath, when it is empty, and lists private use as available. Nothing is published about a fee, a time limit or a sign-up sheet, so ask at the front desk when you check in. A bathing tax of ¥150 per adult is added to the bill.
The hotel
A small inn in the Taki district with a main building and an annex 100 meters away, which has no elevator. Main-building rooms are Japanese style of 8, 10 or 14 mats, plus Western single rooms; the annex has two larger Japanese rooms of 12 and 15 mats. Dinner and breakfast are served in a dining room built from 300-year-old farmhouse timber. The inn calls its cooking country cuisine: deer sashimi, grilled mountain trout, Yashio trout, taro with yuzu miso and rolled yuba (tofu skin) are on the menu. It won a Jalan Award 2024 for dinner in its size class for the Kanto-Koshinetsu region.
