Does Kinugawa Plaza Hotel allow tattoos? In a private bath
Kinugawa Plaza Hotel put its private baths in a separate wooden building in the woods, ten of them, with a tatami rest area and deck chairs.
Kinugawa Plaza publishes no tattoo rule for its large bath. A few minutes’ walk from the main building, Hoozukitei holds ten private open-air baths at 3,630 yen and up for 50 minutes per room, and several room types, the renovated Sui rooms among them, have an open-air tub with unmixed spring water running through it.

The bath
The large baths use the hotel's own source, Takara-no-yu, which it says flows at about 300 liters a minute at around 53 degrees and belongs to the old Taki Onsen where the town began. The spring is listed as weakly alkaline and low-tension, for chronic skin complaints and hardening of the arteries among others. The men's hall Tono-no-yu has one indoor tub, one open-air bath and a sauna, run straight from the source; the women's Hime-no-yu has an indoor tub, two open-air baths, one of them a round jacuzzi, and a sauna. Hours are 14:00 to 10:00 the next morning. A resting tub, Horeki, stands by the entrance hall. The hotel does not say the halls swap.
Hoozukitei, the forest bath, is a detached building a few minutes' walk from the main one with ten private open-air baths, deck chairs, a wide tatami rest room and lanterns at night. It is for hotel guests, from 15:00, 50 minutes a party, from ¥3,630. A second building on the riverbank, Akebi, has ten more private rooms with two source-fed open-air tubs each, run for day visitors 10:00 to 24:00, 60 minutes from ¥3,800. Several room types have spring water of their own: the nine eighth-floor Sui rooms, rebuilt in 2023 and winter 2025 with a square or round open-air tub and now an indoor bath on the spring too; the three Sansui Setsugekka special rooms with cypress tubs over the river; and the corner suites Hannari (two, one with a granite view bath and one with a jacuzzi) and Fuwari (one, granite).
The hotel
A big hotel on the west bank with about 190 rooms across floors four to twelve, from standard Japanese rooms and the Akari rooms built out over a rock shelf above the gorge to the Yukuri Western rooms, the Ikoi double rooms and an Oriental suite renewed in winter 2025. Dinner is a buffet in one of four dining rooms or a Japanese set served in the room on many plans, with a Tochigi wagyu steak as an upgrade. There are a banquet hall for 600, a lounge, a club, a summer pool, a games room and a free internet corner. Parking takes 200 cars and 20 coaches.
