Does Hotel Crown Hills Himeji allow tattoos? Yes, covered
Two named baths, Harima no Yu for men with a sauna and Shirosagi no Yu for women; no cold bath. Seven minutes’ walk from Himeji station.
Refused in principle, but one cover seal of 8 cm × 10 cm (3.1 × 3.9 in) is enough if it hides the tattoo. Note the difference from most chains: the hotel doesn’t supply the seal. Bring your own.

The bath
Not a hot spring. The hotel’s selling point is binchotan: white charcoal in the water, which it says releases minerals and leaves the water soft, in a plain rectangular tub of dark tile under a large tile picture of Himeji Castle in blossom. The men’s sauna is a small wood-lined room for about two at 90°C with no cold bath; women have no sauna. Both baths are open 4 p.m. to midnight and 6 to 9 a.m. Take the towels from your room; the front desk keeps your key and valuables while you bathe, and women borrow a key for their bath.
The hotel
200 rooms, from a 10 m² compact single to a 32 m² wood-floored family twin, all with a modular bathroom. The breakfast buffet (6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.) costs ¥1,000, or ¥700 if you buy a ticket at the desk by the night before, and includes the hotel’s own Himeji oden with ginger soy. On weekdays and Saturdays guests get a free bowl for dinner, curry or a rice bowl, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. while it lasts.

About 7 minutes from the central south exit.
By car, the Himeji-Minami IC is about 3 minutes, and parking is free from 3 p.m. to 10 a.m.
