Does Solaniwa Onsen Osaka Bay Tower allow tattoos? Yes, covered
A hot-spring theme park at Bentencho with ten private open-air rooms on source-flow water, each with a small garden and one with a tent sauna, beside the big themed baths where the yukata (a light cotton robe) rule applies.
Refused by default, with an exception: buy the facility’s cover seals at reception and cover the tattoo completely, including anything visible from the yukata worn inside, and you are admitted. The scheme is described as a trial. Ask at the front desk for the seal sizes and prices.

The bath
The baths are on the fifth floor, on a hot spring pumped from 1,000 meters down, a mild spring. The source bath, an open-air tub on both sides, gets the water straight from the well with nothing recirculated; the other open-air bath uses it filtered. The Niwami-buro is an infinity-edge tub looking down on a Japanese garden. There is also a carbonated bath at 37 to 38°C, a cold bath, a Finnish dry sauna with auto-löyly and a mist sauna on the women’s side. Open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., last entry 10 p.m.; adult admission ¥2,310 to ¥3,630 by the day, less after 5 p.m., plus ¥150 bath tax, yukata and towels included. Closed one Wednesday a month.
Good to know
- Morning bath for ¥800, 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., cash only; no sauna, no yukata, and one tub closed for cleaning each weekday.

Bentencho STN · JR Osaka Loop line and Chuo subway line
Connected: the walkway from the JR central north gate, or exit 2A from the subway’s west gate.
Bentencho is about 10 minutes by train from Osaka (Umeda).
