The bath
Tabibito no Yu at Hashimoto is a radium artificial spring. The water has the health-ministry-approved additive Radi-Hope dissolved in it, which Route Inn says softens it, and it has neither color nor smell. The bath has a wood-plank ceiling and warm wood walls above dark tile, a tub set against a window onto a small lit courtyard garden, and terracotta-colored floor tiles. Both the men’s and women’s baths have a shampoo bar, a row of brands to choose from. The women’s side gained ReFa Fine Bubble shower heads in January 2022 and two ReFa Beautech dryers that March. Open 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The hotel
Opened March 2014 with 148 rooms. Free breakfast from 6:45 a.m. includes European breads that change daily, and the hotel’s seafood restaurant, Bikura, serves Kumano beef with Wakayama plum salt, local sake and plum wine, and six Shirahama craft beers. Free parking and Doutor coffee in the lobby. Arrive from 3 p.m.; leave by 10 a.m.

Hashimoto STN · JR Wakayama line and Nankai Koya line
About 20 minutes on foot, or 6 by car.
Hashimoto is 1 hour 7 minutes from Osaka. The hotel puts Koyasan about an hour away by car, or an hour and a half by train with changes. By car, the Hashimoto interchange is 5 minutes.
