The bath
The sky spa’s open-air tub faces a wide opening over the lights of the Nara basin; the indoor tub is lined in small blue tiles and looks through tall windows toward the mountains. Men can go back and forth between a dry sauna and a cold tub; one page lists a mist sauna for women and another says the women’s side has no sauna, so ask if it matters. Hours are 3 p.m. to 11 a.m., saunas off 2 to 6 a.m., with cleaning breaks around 9:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. Day visitors pay a flat ¥2,000, morning or evening, with towels, signing up as spa members with photo ID. Staying guests carry towels up from their rooms.
The hotel
Rooms run from 17 m² doubles, some with a terrace, to 23 m² corner twins, all fitted with a modular bathroom and Simmons mattresses. The Candeo Suite is 43 m², sleeps four and has a bath of its own.
Good to know
- Women: ask about the sauna. One of the hotel’s pages says there is none.
