Umiakari
氷見温泉郷 くつろぎの宿 うみあかり
Does Umiakari allow tattoos? In a private bath
Umiakari draws two sodium chloride wells on the Himi shore into view baths that open at 4 a.m. for the sunrise over the bay, and in 2023 it added two Mori-no-to rooms with a semi-open-air bath each. The inn does not say whether the room tubs carry the spring.
The inn publishes no tattoo rule on its hot spring page, rooms page or policy page, so the two shared view baths and the rock bath in the annex promise nothing to a tattooed guest. The listing rests on the Mori-no-to wing, two rooms opened in 2023 that each have a semi-open-air bath of their own. The inn describes those tubs as semi-open-air baths and does not call them hot spring baths, so treat the water as the inn’s own bath water rather than the spring.
The bath
The inn has two wells of its own, Iwaido Onsen No. 1 and No. 2, both sodium chloride springs: the first hypertonic and weakly alkaline at 56.8°C, the second isotonic at 52.2°C. The main building's view bath is 100 percent natural spring with Toyama Bay in the window, split into Isaribi-no-yu for men and Hinode-no-yu for women, each with an indoor tub and an open-air bath. It opens from 4 to 9 a.m. for the sunrise and again from 11 a.m. to midnight; the women's changing room has a chilled drinks server with sports drink and two teas, the men's cold water. Three minutes' walk from the front desk, the annex Shio-no-kaori-tei is a natural rock bath run straight from the source, open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with last entry at 8:30 p.m., and open to day visitors for ¥660 (children ¥440, infants ¥220) with soap and shampoo provided and towels for rent.
The two Mori-no-to rooms, 551 and 552, each have a semi-open-air bath: a square tub set against a window wall, one room in dark tile with a beaded screen and a wooden spout, the other in mosaic tile. The inn gives the tubs no spring label, so count them as the room's own bath. There is no reservable private bath elsewhere in the inn.
The hotel
An inn on the Unami shore with three wings: Hana-no-to with eight sea-side and two mountain-side special rooms, Hoshi-no-to with Japanese rooms, twins and doubles, and Mori-no-to, the two-room wing opened in February 2023 with Simmons beds, a massage chair, an air purifier, illy coffee, wine and grape juice in the room and Hermès bath amenities for women. Dinner is kaiseki (a multi-course Japanese meal) from the Himi fish market, served in the private dining rooms of Dining Tsuki, opened in September 2022; the breakfast buffet was redone, and the inn reports a renovation in December 2025. The inn says Tateyama shows across the bay on about 80 days a year.
