Arima Gyoen
有馬御苑
Does Arima Gyoen allow tattoos? In a private bath
The large bath is closed to guests with tattoos, fashion tattoos included. Four special rooms have a garden open-air bath on the silver spring.
The ryokan refuses tattoos in its large bath and says fashion tattoos count. Its Fuyo Sanso special rooms each have an open-air bath in a small garden, on the silver spring, and that is the way to bathe here.
The bath
The special rooms are numbered 700 to 703, the largest with two tatami rooms. Their baths run on the silver spring, a clear radon water.
The shared bath, the one closed to tattoos, has a gold-spring rock tub, a plain-water stone tub and a silver-spring open-air tub. The ryokan’s ¥1,300 day bath is that large bath only, so it is no use to a tattooed visitor.
The hotel
Check-in is 3 p.m. and checkout is 10 a.m.
