A reservable cypress bath, and two rooms with an open-air bath of their own. The reservable one is step-free right to the water, which the ryokan mentions for wheelchair users and which happens to matter to anyone who would rather not be looked at on the way in.

Best for: A private bath you can reach without crossing a changing room

The Kiccho rooms and the East Wing have an open-air hot spring bath of their own, on the ryokan’s radium spring. The large bath downstairs runs on the iron-red gold spring and carries no published rule, so the room is the answer.

Best for: Arima's two springs under one roof, one of them in your own room

The rooms with their own bath are named on the ryokan's page as 客室専有温泉露天風呂: 吉兆 and the East Wing. No tattoo policy is published.

Arima Sanso Gosho Bessho

Ten detached villas of a hundred square meters each, and the hot spring comes to the bath in every one of them — the resort’s own words are that the room’s bath runs on onsen too. One villa has a gold-spring open-air bath built as a tree house. Nothing here has to be shared.

Best for: The most private way to bathe in Arima, at the price that implies

The wording is 全室10室 … お部屋のお風呂でも温泉をご利用いただけます, with each villa also carrying a thermal room at body temperature. Run by Goshobo, the oldest inn in Arima. No tattoo policy is published.

Hotel Hanakoyado

The smallest inn in Arima answers with its private baths, which its guests use freely, and with a new run of Premium Twin rooms that have the gold spring piped into the room. Guests can also use the large bath at Goshobo, three minutes away, which carries no published rule.

Best for: Goshobo's water and cooking at a smaller house's price, with the bath to yourself
