Tattoos are allowed in the baths if a cover seal hides them completely, on a trial policy the hotel began July 1, 2024. No seal size is named.
Cover seal required, with no size named. The same dated notice as its sister hotel: tattooed guests were refused until July 1, 2024, and are accepted on a trial basis since then if the design is completely hidden.

The bath
The hotel draws its own high-temperature spring, which it describes as soft. Both sides of the large bath face a garden planted so something is in flower in every season: Hyakka no Yu is the cypress bath, Kogane no Yu a broad rock bath, with an open-air bath, a stone bath, a silky bath, a barrel bath and a sauna between them. There is no private bath. The Shikisai Superior and Standard rooms and the Shikisai suites have an open-air bath of their own, the suites’ on the balcony. Bathing is for staying guests only.
The hotel
Forty-four rooms, opened in December 2022, built in hinoki and hung with paintings by Shokan Goma. Dinner is a creative Japanese course from Hakone ingredients, in two sittings chosen at check-in, with terrace seats over the courtyard. The Sengokuhara pampas-grass field is a minute away by car and Togendai on Lake Ashi about ten. Check-in is 3 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m. Parking is free.
Good to know
- Late noodles from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. at a counter by the dining room.
- A cypress side and a rock side, both facing the flower garden.
- Car navigation may not find the hotel. It suggests setting the FamilyMart Hakone Sengoku Shitsugen store in front of it.
Getting there
The shuttle returns at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. From the ticket gate go right into the underpass; the pickup point is on the left at the far end.

Free hotel shuttle at 2:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.; reserve by the day before.
Pickup is through the underpass beside the Hakone Gora post office.

Cover the tattoo completely with a seal before you go in. The hotel doesn't specify a size, so cover everything.
