Does Yudokoro Suiun / Setsugekka Bettei Suiun allow tattoos? In a private bath
Three private baths stand among the trees a short walk from the main building, in cypress, rock and ceramic. The ryokan’s FAQ keeps tattoos out of the large bath and sends you to these three, which are free, or to the bath in your room.
Almost every room also has an open-air bath of its own.
The bath
The two large baths each have an indoor bath in hinoki cypress, a half-open-air rock bath and a sauna, and the facility list names a cold bath; the water is a natural spring Kyoritsu Resort describes as soft. The three private baths stand among the trees, reached by a path from the main building: Ouka no Yu in hinoki, lit low, Keika no Yu a rough rock bath with water pouring in, and Kikka no Yu a brimming ceramic tub. The site doesn’t state their hours or booking rules. The Seizan lounge is open 24 hours with free drinks, snacks and late-night soba noodles.
The hotel
A 43-room annex of Kinoyu Setsugekka, run by Kyoritsu Resort as an inn for adults. Almost every room has its own open-air bath in hinoki on the natural spring. Room types run from a 32 m² double to 50 m² Japanese-Western rooms for four. Dinner is in the Unshin-an dining room, and there's a Japanese aromatherapy spa by Baraka.
Good to know
- A hinoki open-air bath in your room, in all but a few rooms. Only the garden-side Japanese-Western rooms face Mount Myojogatake.
- Three private baths in the woods: cypress, rock and ceramic.
- Adults’ inn: no children of elementary-school age or younger.
Getting there
The ryokan stands opposite Gora Park. Ask at the sister inn's front desk for the car; parking for 14 cars is free for guests.
