Inatoriso
海一望 絶景の宿 いなとり荘
Does Inatoriso allow tattoos? In a private bath
Inatoriso faces straight out to sea, and its top floor holds two private open-air baths called Crescent Moon and Full Moon. Every room looks at the water, and guests keep theirs until noon.
The hotel publishes no tattoo rule. It rents two private open-air baths on its top floor, Mikazuki and Mangetsu, at ¥2,200 for 50 minutes, and sells twelve rooms with a free-flowing spring tub of their own. Either lets a tattooed guest bathe with the sea in front and nobody else in the water. Ask before using the shared baths.
The bath
Two private open-air baths sit on the eighth floor, the top of the building: Mikazuki, crescent moon, and Mangetsu, full moon. Each is let for 50 minutes at ¥2,200. Evening sessions run from 4 to 10 p.m., with the last booking at 9, and morning sessions from 7 to 11 a.m., with the last at 10. You can reserve before you arrive or on the day, and the hotel suggests reserving early to be sure of the time you want.
Twelve rooms have a spring tub of their own that the hotel describes as free-flowing: suites of about 70 to 80 square meters with an open-air or half-open-air bath, a Japanese modern room of 50 square meters and a corner twin of 42 square meters.
The shared baths are on the seventh floor. Umi is the men's bath in the evening and the women's in the morning; Kamome, with the open-air bath Sora attached, runs the other way. Hours are 3 p.m. to midnight and 5 to 10 a.m., with a sauna on each side. Sora is an infinity tub whose edge runs into the horizon. The shared water is filtered and recirculated with some run off, and cold water is added because the source is 80°C.
The hotel
A 57-room hotel on the Inatori seafront: 24 Japanese rooms, 21 rooms with beds and 12 rooms with beds and an open-air bath. Every room faces the sea and all are non-smoking. Check-in is from 3 p.m. and check-out is as late as noon, which the hotel makes a selling point. Suite guests take dinner and breakfast in a private room; other plans use a private room or the restaurant for dinner and a buffet for breakfast. Phone reception runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
