Does Bettei Amafuru Oka allow tattoos? In a private bath

The operator measures its hilltop at 77 Tokyo Domes and says the name came from nights when the stars look ready to fall on it. Each room is a villa with its own open-air bath, and a second bath waits out in the trees, taken by the hour.

Nothing is published about tattoos, and the layout removes most of the reason to ask. The operator states that the bath attached to each room runs on hot spring water from a source inside the grounds, and that there are two reservable baths as well, one in the woods and one indoors with step-free access. The view bath, the sand bath and the hot spring pool are shared and unaddressed.

Where it is

Hakata to Ibusuki is about 3 h 25: the Kyushu Shinkansen to Kagoshima-Chuo, then the Ibusuki Makurazaki line down the coast, which the sightseeing train Ibusuki no Tamatebako also runs. Ureshino is about 1 h 20, a limited express to Takeo-Onsen and the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen one stop further. Both reservable baths run 15:00 to 21:30 with last reception at 20:30. The water is a sodium-calcium chloride spring, which the operator says is known locally as the fire bath for how long it holds heat. The grounds also hold a ceramic spa, a sand bath, a bedrock bath and a hot spring pool open year round. The same company runs the Ibusuki Bay Hills hotel on the same hill, which is why booking sites file the two under one another’s names, and why the Agoda listing for this property uses the Bay Hills slug.
