Does Hotel Koryu allow tattoos? Yes!
Koryu says almost every room has a lake view, and its English FAQ answers the tattoo question in one word before it adds anything else: yes.
Tattoos are allowed in the large baths. The hotel’s own English FAQ answers the question with a plain yes and asks only that you keep to Japanese bathing etiquette, with the warning that guests who do not may be asked to stop using the baths. No seal and no size limit are mentioned. A private bath is there too if you want one: 3,300 yen, booked ahead.

Can I use the large bathroom even if I have tattoos? Yes, you can. However, please follow Japanese bathing etiquette. If you do not follow the bathing etiquette, we may ask you to refrain from using the baths.

Large baths Shiraito and Otome, with a garden open-air bath, 15:00–24:00 and 5:30–9:30. The rooftop view open-air bath was closed after structural damage from the earthquake of 26 June 2026 and the hotel gives no reopening date; the large baths and the private bath are running as usual. Private bath 15:00–22:00, 3,300 yen; the Japanese bath page says 45 minutes, the English FAQ says 50. Day bathing is suspended. The hotel warns that rooms resold by third-party agents onto sites such as Agoda have been mislabeled as having a private open-air bath, and that such bookings must be changed or cancelled through the site used.
