Does Hashizuya allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

The two reservable baths at Hashizuya stand in their own building of koyamaki and hinoki, and they are the only tubs in the house a passing day visitor can rent.

Hashizuya says nothing about tattoos, so read its shared baths as unanswered. Two detached reservable baths answer the question instead: Hinoki-no-yu and Maki-no-yu, open 15:00 to 21:30 and not bookable ahead. They are also the only part of the house sold to day visitors, from 15:00 to 20:45, by same-day phone call. In the Tsukishiro annex, the suites Akagane and Kohaku have private open-air tubs with an indoor tub beside them.

What happens when you arrive

Skip the shared baths and reserve the private one the way this page describes. Once the door is closed, the bath is yours.

How we know

Confirmed from official site — bath structure, not a tattoo policy (the FAQ on reservable baths and the annex room pages)

Read on: hashizuya.co.jp/faq/

Best for: A day visitor with tattoos who wants a hot spring without booking a room

Two more baths, Ujo and Yakumo, swap between men and women rather than being reservable, so they are shared. The 2026 rebuild added the premium suite Ruri and the Tsukishiro suites Hisui and Meno, all with an open-air tub and an indoor tub. The suites take their meals in the main building’s dining room, Suiren.
