Does Aki Grand Hotel & Spa allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

The private bath faces straight across the strait at the floating gate, which is the whole argument for staying on the mainland rather than the island.

Bogen-no-yu, the open-air bath, is reserved by the party: 3,800 yen including tax for 45 minutes, up to six people, booked in advance by phone or at the front desk. That is the bath to use. The two indoor baths named Miyabi and Raku are shared and swap between men and women through the day, and the hotel publishes no tattoo rule for them.

Visit Hiroshima Tourist Pass One, two or three days on Hiroshima’s streetcars, including the line out to Miyajimaguchi, and the ferry across to the island. Slower than the JR train, and it covers the boat. Sold on Klook.

What happens when you arrive

Skip the shared baths and reserve the private one the way this page describes. Once the door is closed, the bath is yours.

How we know

Confirmed from official site — bath structure, not a tattoo policy. The reservable bath, its price and its hours are on the hotel’s spa page; 45 pages of the site carry no tattoo statement.

Best for: Booking a private open-air bath that looks across at the shrine gate

The reservable bath takes three entry windows: 06:00 to 08:30, 10:00 to 14:30 and 16:00 to 22:30, last entry at each. The spring is a simple weak radioactive water and the hotel states plainly that it heats, dilutes, recirculates and filters it. Free shuttle from Miyajimaguchi station at 30-minute intervals in the operator’s own timetable.
