Does Residence Yasushi allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

Yasushi sits two doors from Shin-yu and takes its water from the same source, but the hotel’s own two baths are never shared: guests book them at the desk.

There is no shared bath to be turned away from. The hotel’s two onsen baths are only ever used privately by its guests and are booked at the front desk. Its etiquette page, written in English, does mention tattoos: it says the old link to the yakuza has faded a great deal and warns that some older bathers may still stare. That is advice for the soto-yu, not a house rule.

What happens when you arrive

Skip the shared baths and reserve the private one the way this page describes. Once the door is closed, the bath is yours.

How we know

Confirmed from official site — bath structure, not a tattoo policy (the hotel’s onsen page, English and Japanese)

Two private onsen baths on Shin-yu water, gensen kakenagashi, “available for private use by Residence Yasushi guests. Reservations can be made at the front desk.” On tattoos the same page says: “That has changed a lot today - although you might still find some older folks eyeing your tattoos up warily; so don’t be offended if that happens!!” Twenty rooms, all ensuite, breakfast included. Open in the green season as well as winter. Run by Nozawa Hospitality, which also runs Address Nozawa, Kawamotoya and Himecho@Yasushi.
