Genyo no Yu, which APA calls a semi-natural hot spring, mineral stone rather than a spring of its own, two minutes from Yodoyabashi, and one of the chain’s two picks for Kansai.
Tattoos are allowed if two of APA's own cover seals, 10 cm × 12 cm (3.9 × 4.7 in) each, hide them. Overnight guests get two free per person per night, handed over one night at a time, so ask again each evening.

The bath
Genyo no Yu is in the basement, on APA’s quasi-natural Komeiseki hot spring, water made with a health-ministry-approved quasi-drug based on the ore komeiseki. An indoor bath, an open-air bath, a sauna and a cold bath, the pot bath in the outdoor space on the men’s side only; the hotel is frank that the building leaves the open-air bath without a view and that the cold bath has no chiller, so its temperature follows the seasons. Open 6 to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 1 a.m., free to overnight guests and included in day-use room plans. Bring towels and a razor from your room; the television shows how crowded the bath is.
The hotel
467 rooms, most of them 10 m² singles, semi-doubles and doubles, with 13–16 m² kings and twins, 21.7 m² deluxe twins and connecting rooms. Breakfast at Kent East is a buffet of more than 60 dishes with bread baked on site, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., ¥2,200 in advance. The Day Spa Allumer salon is in the building, and a lobby machine changes 14 foreign currencies into yen. Parking ¥2,500, 26 spaces. Check-in from 3 p.m., check-out at 10 a.m.

The Keihan line’s Yodoyabashi Station is 5 minutes south from exit 17, and Kitahama on the Sakaisuji line 5 minutes west from exit 6.
