Does Kamenoi Hotel Nara allow tattoos? Yes, covered

Cover seal required

You can bathe if the tattoo is completely hidden under a cover seal. The size the property allows is the thing to check before you book — allowances differ enough between chains to decide the matter.

Refused in principle, then a condition worth reading carefully: you may use the large bath if a seal leaves the tattoo invisible to other guests. The hotel does not say it supplies the seals and names no size, so bring your own and bring enough. There is no private bath here — the hotel says so plainly.

入れ墨・タトゥーのあるお客さまは、大浴場のご利用をお断りしております。なお、タトゥーを隠すシール等により、他のお客さまから入れ墨等が見えない状態の場合はご利用いただけます。

What happens when you arrive

Cover the tattoo completely before you go in, with a seal that fits the size the property allows — that figure is in the policy line at the top of this page, and it is the property’s, not ours. Where the seals are sold at the front desk, buy them at check-in rather than at bath time; where they are not, bring your own. A seal that does not cover the whole tattoo counts as no seal, and staff are within their rules to turn you away at the door. Nothing needs declaring, but nothing may show.

Best for: Work you can hide entirely, if you travel with your own seals

The same FAQ answers the other question in the same breath: 貸切風呂はございません — there is no reservable bath. A cypress-panelled indoor bath and a garden open-air bath, out by the Heijo Palace ruins.
