The bath
Kishu no Yu is on the second floor, and its water is trucked in from Kinokawa city: a salty spring that the analysis classes as a cold spring. The stones and driftwood in the bath were taken from the Hidaka river in southern Wakayama, and the decoration uses Kishu temari, the region’s embroidered thread balls, as its motif, with a chirimen crepe pattern scattered through it. The hotel keeps the room fairly dim. The outdoor cooling-off space has its own television, as does the two-tier dry sauna. A chiller keeps the cold bath cool. Open 3 p.m. to 10 a.m. the following morning, with the sauna off between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. The hotel lists six washing stations and 18 lockers, and both baths have washing machines that dose their own detergent for free; dryers cost ¥100 for 20 minutes.
The hotel
142 rooms, opened March 2012: 81 doubles, 45 twins, 13 kings, two Japanese-Western rooms and one accessible room, on Serta beds. The breakfast buffet has a station cooking eggs to order and a local seafood bowl topped with shirasu whitebait and three other toppings. A manga corner, a massage chair on the bath floor, and parking at ¥1,500. Standard hours are 3 p.m. in and 11 a.m. out.

From Kansai Airport the hotel gives about 50 minutes by JR, changing at Hineno, or about 45 by limousine bus.
