Does Bali & Resort SAYA no Kaze allow tattoos? In a private bath

Private bath only

SAYA no Kaze tells tattooed guests to skip its large bath and book the private one instead: a carved stone tub under a gazebo shipped from Bali, standing in the woods on the Anrakujima hill. At this all-inclusive hotel the 50-minute slot costs nothing extra.

SAYA no Kaze answers the tattoo question in its FAQ: guests with tattoos may not use the large bath, and the hotel points them to its private bath instead. That bath is booked on the day, first come first served, at a tablet by the front desk from 3:30 p.m.; the hotel advises booking early because slots are limited.

The bath

The private bath is the one the hotel names for tattooed guests. It stands outdoors in the woods: a gazebo imported directly from Bali, red-walled and roofed in timber, over a round carved stone tub that the hotel says was made in Bali. A session lasts 50 minutes and runs between 4 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. It costs nothing extra, because the stay is all-inclusive. Slots go first come, first served on the day of your stay, booked from 3:30 p.m. at a tablet beside the 3rd-floor front desk, so the hotel suggests checking in early. The bath closes in strong wind or bad weather.

The renewed Ocean View Tanah twin rooms, reopened in April 2025, have an open-air bath of their own looking straight over Toba Bay, with futons on a raised floor.

The large bath, Ananda-no-yu, uses water from the Shin-Misato Onsen source near Sakakibara Onsen, a clear alkaline simple spring that the hotel says women like for its smooth feel. It is open 3 p.m. to midnight and 6 to 9 a.m. A barrel sauna on the 4th-floor sky deck (swimwear required) and a stone sauna room are booked the same way as the private bath.

The hotel

A Balinese-styled all-inclusive hotel on the Anrakujima hilltop, with furniture imported from Bali. The room price covers draft beer, cocktails, wine and soft drinks in the lobby, a late bar with green curry from 9 to 11 p.m., the play room with about 10,000 comics, table tennis and billiards, karaoke, the saunas and the private bath; only the spa costs extra. Dinner is mainly French-style cooking in the 2nd-floor restaurant. Rooms are Batur and Sanur doubles and twins with a bath, Tanah rooms with raised futon floors, and the Ocean View Tanah rooms with an open-air bath.

What happens when you arrive

Skip the shared baths and use one of the private baths. No reservation needed.

How we know

Confirmed from official site (the hotel’s FAQ, which names the private bath for tattooed guests)

刺青・タトゥーのある方は、大浴場のご利用をお断りさせていただいております。貸切風呂をご用意しておりますので、そちらをご利用くださいませ。※貸切風呂は数に限りがございますので、事前のご予約をおすすめいたします。

This is the rule for the shared baths. It doesn’t apply to the private baths.

Best for: couples who want a Bali-style private tub in the woods, with drinks and the bath included in the room price

The private bath stands in the woods outside the building: a Bali-made stone tub under a gazebo imported from Bali. Sessions are 50 minutes between 4 p.m. and 11:50 p.m., free for staying guests because the stay is all-inclusive. Booking opens at 3:30 p.m. on the day at a tablet by the 3rd-floor front desk; the bath closes in strong wind. The hotel does not say whether the private bath carries spring water. The renewed Ocean View Tanah twin rooms (April 2025) have an open-air bath of their own facing the bay; the hotel does not say what water fills it. The large bath, Ananda-no-yu, uses the Shin-Misato Onsen source, an alkaline simple spring.
