Does Toba Seaside Hotel allow tattoos? In a private bath
Toba Seaside Hotel has five family baths on its sixth floor, each with Toba Bay in the window, booked an hour at a time by staying guests. Its large baths are closed to anyone with a tattoo.
The hotel refuses tattooed bathers in its three large baths and warns that it may ask someone to leave after they have gone in. What it offers instead is structural: five family baths that staying guests reserve for 60 minutes, and nine rooms with their own hot spring open-air bath on a sea-facing terrace.
The bath
The family baths are on the 6th floor beside the Kazami-no-yu bath, five rooms named after the islands and capes of Toba Bay: Kamishima, Ukishima, Sakate, Sugashima and Toshi. The hotel says each looks out over the bay and that one is built barrier-free. The photo of one shows an oval stone tub on a raised tiled step, wood-paneled walls and a wide window onto the water. A session is 60 minutes for ¥3,300, between 3 and 11 p.m., with the last start at 9 p.m. Each takes two or three people, and Kamishima up to four. They are for staying guests only; day visitors cannot book them.
Nine rooms on the 2nd floor of Misaki-tei have a hot spring open-air bath on a sea-breeze terrace, in Japanese, Japanese-with-beds and Western layouts.
The spring is Sakakibara Onsen's Nanakuri-no-yu, an alkaline simple spring the hotel lists for muscle and joint pain, cold sensitivity and fatigue. It fills three large baths: Kazami-no-yu on the 6th floor, with rock, cypress and single-person pot tubs outdoors; Misaki-no-yu, the open-air bath nearest the sea; and Migiwa-no-yu, with a jacuzzi, lie-down tubs and a sauna. Kazami-no-yu's open-air tubs close for repairs from November 1 to December 22, 2026; the family baths stay open.
The hotel
A 206-room resort in three wings on the Anrakujima shore: Migiwa-kan with its sky floor of modern Japanese rooms, a middle wing with five room types, and Misaki-tei, the wing nearest the sea, with an Asian look. Every room is non-smoking, and the hotel counts fourteen room types in all. Dinner is a seasonal buffet or private-room kaiseki (a multi-course Japanese meal). Check-in is 3 p.m.

How we know
Confirmed from official site (the hotel’s FAQ refuses the large baths; the family baths and spring-water rooms are from its hot spring and plan pages)
刺青・タトゥーのある方の大浴場でのご入浴はお断り申し上げます。ご入場された後でも退場して頂く事がありますのでご了承ください。
This is the rule for the shared baths. It doesn’t apply to the private baths.
Best for: a family who want a bay-view private tub by the hour, or a terrace room with its own hot spring bath
Family baths: five, named Kamishima, Ukishima, Sakate, Sugashima and Toshi, on the same 6th floor as the Kazami-no-yu bath, all with a view of the bay and one barrier-free. 60 minutes for 3,300 yen, 3 to 11 p.m. with the last start at 9 p.m., for two or three people (Kamishima takes up to four), staying guests only. The hotel does not say whether the family baths carry spring water. The nine rooms with a hot spring open-air bath are on the 2nd floor of Misaki-tei, in Japanese, Japanese-with-beds and Western styles. Repairs: the Kazami-no-yu open-air bath is closed from November 1 to December 22, 2026 (its indoor bath stays open at reduced hours); the Migiwa-no-yu bath was closed from September 4 to October 31, 2026.
