Kisara Bettei TOKI
季さら別邸 刻~TOKI~
Does Kisara Bettei TOKI allow tattoos? In a private bath
TOKI is Kisara's newer annex on the Anrakujima hill: ten rooms named for shades of blue, each with an open-air tub of Shaguji spring water, and no shared bath.
TOKI publishes no tattoo rule, and has no large bath to apply one to. Each of its ten rooms has an open-air bath of its own, filled with Shaguji spring water.
The bath
There is no large bath at TOKI; every room has its own. The inn speaks of open-air baths fitted to each room, and the photo of the room Misora shows the pattern: a square tub of dark grey stone tile on a timber terrace under a deep eave, with a glass rail and the bay, its oyster rafts and a wooded island beyond. The water is Shaguji Onsen, whose source is at Nanakuri, across the Ano River from Sakakibara Onsen. TOKI calls it 100 percent natural hot spring, circulated and filtered; it is alkaline, almost clear and odorless, and the inn lists it for chronic skin complaints, neuralgia and sore muscles. Staff will make the bath hotter or cooler if you ask.
The ten rooms take their names from shades of blue, chosen, the inn says, because the bay in front shows so many of them: Shiraai, Misora, Sabiasagi, Chigusa, Hanada, Amairo, Gunjo, Konpeki, Ruri and Hanakonjo. Misora also has an indoor bath beside the open-air one.
The hotel
The annex of Kisara, opened on June 1, 2019, with ten rooms on the Anrakujima hill. The inn sells the stay as all-inclusive and has a guest lounge called THE SCENE. Dinner is a seasonal course built on local produce, with a made-to-order course on offer. The same company runs Kisara next door and the villas of Kisara Oneness.
