Tattoos are allowed if up to two cover seals hide them completely, the largest 11.8 cm × 17.2 cm (4.6 × 6.8 in). The bath, Shippo no Yu, is filled with real black spring water trucked from Chiba.
The hotel's own FAQ says seals are provided “depending on the facility” and that stock is limited, so bring your own of the right size.

The bath
Shippo no Yu, in the basement, is filled with real spring water trucked in from Sosa in Chiba: a black water so dark the hotel says you can't see your own feet in it, faintly slippery on the skin and without any strong smell. The tub looks onto a small garden with a waterfall. There's a two-tier dry sauna with a window onto the bathroom, and a one-person ceramic cold tub to drop into afterward. Open 3 p.m. to 10 a.m. the next morning; the sauna is off between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.
The hotel
154 rooms, mostly doubles with 18 twins and four Japanese-style rooms, on Serta beds. Check-in is 3 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m. The chain's Japanese-Western buffet breakfast, with a local dish.
Good to know
- Ice pop after the bath, yogurt drink in the morning. Dormy’s free extras, both here.
- A tatami floor on the 12th, where shoes come off at the door, and a few rooms with their own hinoki cypress bath.
