Does Hotel Route Inn Kyoto Kameoka Ekimae allow tattoos? Yes, covered
Straight out of Kameoka station’s north exit, with a large communal bath: nineteen minutes from Kyoto on the Sagano line rapid, and the town the Hozugawa boat ride starts from.
Tattoos are allowed if a cover seal hides them completely. The group names no seal size and doesn’t say the hotel sells seals, so bring your own.

The bath
This Route Inn has real hot-spring water. Tabibito no Yu is supplied from the Kameoka Tennen Onsen Genji no Yu source: a mild, skin-softening spring that comes out of the ground below 34°C. The hotel states that it adds water, heats it and runs it through a circulating filter. No sauna or open-air bath is listed. Men’s and women’s baths are separate and open 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. The women’s bath is locked; use the key handed over at check-in. Inside it is a drum washer-dryer of its own. Toner, milk lotion, soap, shampoo and conditioner on both sides, cleansing oil and brushes for women, combs and razors for men.
The hotel
200 rooms beside Kameoka station, three minutes’ walk from Sanga Stadium by Kyocera. Breakfast in Restaurant NAGOMI is a free buffet with croissants and a mocha swirl Danish baked on site; dinner there runs 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., closed Sundays and holidays, with rice bowls, noodles, set meals and izakaya (a Japanese pub) dishes. The first floor has five washers, seven dryers and a microwave.
Good to know
- Parking is ¥500 a night and per exit, 112 spaces, first come, first served and not bookable; nearby lots can charge more on Sanga Stadium event days.
- All-you-can-drink at NAGOMI, ¥1,000 for 60 minutes (¥650 for another 30); the hotel asks anyone who has been drinking not to bathe.

The Sagano line rapid reaches Kameoka from Kyoto in 19 minutes. Sanga Stadium by Kyocera is 3 minutes on foot.
